An Official Preliminary of the Miss America Pageant

Mexico, Missouri, has been home to the pageant for the past 36 years. While in Mexico the program has provided  hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to young women. The intangible benefits of the program have impacted the lives of countless others.

The New Miss Missouri was crowned Saturday night at Missouri Military Academy
in Mexico. Lacey Fitzgerald, Miss Gateway to the West, age 24,
was selected to represent the state at the Miss America pageant later this year in Las Vegas. Fitzgerald, from Richmond, is the daughter of Don and Dalana Fitzgerald. She is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. Miss Missouri received a $10,000 scholarship. The first runner up was Kari Gai, Miss Tri-Counties. She received a $4,000 scholarship. The second runner up was Abigail Grimmett, Miss Mid-Missouri. She received a $3,000 scholarship. The third runner up was Katie Smart, Miss Spirit of St. Louis. She received a $2,000 scholarship. The fourth runner up was Tara Osseck, Miss Gateway St. Louis. She received a $1,500 scholarship.
